| | Q. | where are the St Augustine community hurricane shelters located?? Are they first come/ first serve?? | | A. | Each region in Florida has an Emergency Shelter Plan of Primary Shelters. It includes both those which are certified by the Red Cross (usually schools and centers built after Hurricane Andrew with stricter guidelines) and others which are not certified.
Since each region is just now preparing which ones to open and under the staffing of the Red Cross or by local jurisdictions (if not Red Cross Certified Shelters). You should contact the St. Johns River Area Service Center located in St. Augustine they will be able to tell you the local certified shelters that will be open during Hurricane Frances and local guidelines.
